Allergy and Pets

There are many people who continue to live with dogs or cats, although they have been tested positive to dog allergy or cat dander allergy. I can understand that they love their animals, but there’s one thing people need to be aware of: in case of allergies, the frequent and repeated exposure to the allergen makes symptoms accentuate up to even life-threatening manifestations like severe chocking, swelling, or even anaphylaxis.
The prophylaxis of allergy comprises several steps, which need to be followed. In the first stage, the allergy sufferer needs to identify the cause, which is called allergen. Among the most common allergens are: pet dander, dust mites, molds, pollens, foods, latex or other chemicals. Allergy tests are relatively simple, so it is advisable to go to the doctor to get ourselves tested in case we suspect an allergy to something in our environment. After that, we need to remove the allergen from our living space as much as we can. I know that dogs are men’s best friends, but if you are allergic to dogs, your friend would slowly kill you in time. I’m, sure neither of you wants that, so it’s better to find him a new home.
