I suffer from a severe allergy to a series of cleaning products, therefore even the common activity of washing the dishes causes me a rash as well as other allergy symptoms. That’s the main reason why I’m always seeking for the best chemical free cleaning solutions for my household. I don’t always succeed in my research. For instance, I haven’t found a method to clean my clothes without laundry detergents. I also don’t know how to wash the dishes without dish-washing detergent. My grandmother says vinegar helps, but I really hate the vinegar smell, so I’m not so fond about her method. Anyway, since I’ve got a dishwasher, this is not an issue anymore, as I don’t have to get in touch with the detergent that causes me the rash.

Floor cleaning can also be done effectively only with water. Steam cleaners are the best: they clean and disinfect at the same time, and they use only the power of the hot steam jet to do that. They are the best, believe, me. However, those As Seen on TV handheld steamers that claim to iron the clothes directly on the hangers don’t work as promised. I wouldn’t advise anybody to waste money on such devices.

What else? Chemicals are pretty much everywhere cleaning is needed. Another solution is to buy eco-friendly detergents, but one needs to afford those in the first place, as they cost significantly more than regular detergents.

For the past three years, I have been an incredibly hard drinker. I could easily drink the better part of a liter of vodka, not be sick, and wake up the next day with a managable hangover. About three months ago, this all changed suddenly. Now whenever I have more than two beers, I wake up the next morning violently ill. I have frequent heartburn, constant nausea, and itchy skin if I have had any alcohol in the past 24 hours. Have I developed an allergy to alcohol? I’ve tried only drinking beer, or wine, or liqour to see if it was a particular kind, but they all make me feel wretched. What does this mean?

Is there any information out there regarding a severe allergy to cat scratches? I am not referring to “cat scratch fever” disease, but an allergy where the site of the scratch becomes swolen and red, and the person has hives and trouble breathing.
Thanks so much!

Now that Zyrtec is available over the counter, I pay a lot more for it than I did w/ my co-pay for the prescription. Is there a prescription allergy medicine that is similar to Zyrtec?

I have had this crazy allergy since I has 11 years old. Although it took about 6 years for us to figure out what caused it. I have never heard of anyone that has this same allergy. The rash is not only itchy but very painful sometimes i have it on my legs sometimes on my arms and fingers. And sometimes, to my horror, on my face. It lasts about 4 to 5 days, but the dark spots I get after it drys up take about 3 weeks to go away. The strangest thing, however, is that after I got married and started using birth control it suddenly went away. I’ve been off of birth control for about a year an a half now but the allergy didn’t come back until now … that I’m pregnant. All I want to know is if there is anyone out there that has seen or heard of an allergy like this before and if you have has any doctor ever given any explanations for it. Thanks!
