I want to make the shift to a healthier way of living. Cooking is one of the things I want to improve. Baking, braising, grilling/broiling, poaching, roasting, sauteing, steaming, stir-frying are common “healthy ways” of cooking I found in the net. I’m confused so if you do roasting but your ingredients are unhealthy then the essence of healthy cooking is contradicted.
Ugh I dunno guys my mind is all murky right now and obviously having low IQ as of the moment so please help me define “healthy way of cooking”.

“Healthy cooking “is for people who have serious issues with food and generally tend to be obsessive about body image, sickness and death.
So the name of the game is to be able to separate what is in fact actually unhealthy and what the “we hate good food ” Nazis consider to be unhealthy
Case in point :
1)Properly done deep fat frying is a dry cooking method
Properly done the cooking fat should never reach the food.
Properly done deep fat frying can actually be healthy
2) The much maligned HFCS >The reason that it is found in many foods is b/c of food safety and shelf life reasons and not b/c it adds sweetness
Like all sugars HFCS is hygroscopic >which means that it retains water and thus denies it to the microbes that require it for their survival>aka the”M” in F.A.T.-T.O.M,
One of the basic rules of cooking is that you select your cooking method based upon the product that you’re cooking.
While you can and should braise a beef shoulder you should never grill or roast it because you won’t have a good outcome
Just so you know it’s impossible to do stir -frying at home so don’t waste your time>try sauteeing instead.
Just so you know part 2 The name of the game is still making good food that tastes good and that somebody will look forward to eating.
Where the “healthy food ” people fall flat on their collective faces is that they tend to be really bad cooks and their very limited ingredient list limits what they can actually make>albeit rather badly.
In the hands of somebody that actually knows what the hell they’re doing there are few if any scratch made foods that are actually unhealthy.
That’s the secret ;learn how to cook from scratch .Shop like a European.Let the availabilty and the quality of a given product determine what you will make rather than walking into one store with a list.
I mean given the choice between sour cream that has natural fat molecules acting as the “glue “to hold it all in colloidial form and eating no-fat sour cream that has all these weird gums and addititives taking the place of the “fat glue”>give me the one with the natural fat b/c it not only tastes better but feels better in your mouth>aka mouth feel
those are just techniques, but ofcourse healthy cooking always starts off with fresh and healthy ingredients. And you can always find ways to reduce fats and substitute unhealthy ing. with something healthier, but having the same taste or flavor.
Healthy cooking simply means low carbs and low fat. So, no deep frying, no skin on your chicken, trim fat off chops and steaks, eat veggies, fruit, seeds and nuts. Have greens every day, drink lots of water and follow the national food pyramid. Not a mystery, just watch what you eat.
