Today I’m going to share with you my new passion: I’m collecting antique clocks. This hobby will allow me to arrange a great room full of clocks, where to enjoy the afternoon leisure. It all started one month ago, when I got a present from my godfather: one of those superb ansonia clocks which I’ve always admired but never thought I’d have one some day.

Many people simply love bowling until it becomes an important part of their lives. Sports hobbies get you out of the house and often are a way to make friends with others. Then again, some active hobbies can be enjoyed in our own homes, such as weight lifting and doing aerobic dance to a video.

Speaking of aerobic dance, dancing is another great pastime. When you think of hobby ideas, don’t forget the many forms of dance. Square dancing is fun for people who like getting together with groups, while ballet and modern dance appeal to the more contemplative souls. And while we’re on contemplation, you might enjoy doing yoga stretches as a hobby.

Maybe we’re feeling bored and listless because we’ve been cooped up in the house too long. If that’s the problem, here are a few hobby ideas to get you out in the fresh air. Have you ever thought of taking up canoeing, hiking, or trapping? How about getting involved with an environmental group? In many states, you can form groups to clean riverbanks and monitor water quality, and the state will provide perks such as t-shirts, work gloves, and first-aid kits. Or maybe you’d like studying the flora and fauna of your region. It can be great fun to stroll through the woods and fields with a field guide, learning to identify each wildflower, insect, tree, and bird.

There are almost as many hobby ideas as there are bored people in the world, because everyone puts their own spin on their favorite hobbies. Maybe you’d enjoy decorating your house with antiques, or learning to bake specialty breads from around the World. Maybe you’d like to take part in a little theater production, or learn to play guitar. What about the fine arts of weaving tapestries or painting with oils? Candle making, soap making, and many other old-time crafts are being enjoyed again. Truly, with all these hobby ideas, there is no reason to stay bored for long! If you don’t have a clue how to handicraft a gift, think for example that you could buy a candle making kit and make some really nice gel candles. Gel candles make nice gifts for lots of persons, especially if they are at least a bit romantic.

What Do You Need To Start Stamp Collecting

Starting a stamp collection is easy. All you need is a stamp album and special mounting tapes, which are named hinges. You’ll also need a pair of tweezers to grab the stamps, because you don’t want to leave your fingerprints all over them. You can start your stamp collection with stamps from your daily mail. You can easily remove the stamps from the letters if you soak them in warm water and pull them off gently. After that, use some absorbent paper to dry the stamps and place them inside a big, heavy book, so they flatten. Beware, if the stamp is not completely dry, it may adhere to the book pages, so you’d better put it between some non adherent foils.

Commemoratives are very nice to be added to a stamp collection. These are stamps issued on various commemorative occasions, such as 100 years from celebrating the independence, and they are to be found on the market for a very limited time. Take advantage and buy them, as you may sell them at higher price later on.

Besides, they have very interesting artwork, and are really nice to watch.

A good hint to get some really cool stamps for your collection is to find a few penpals from other countries. The more letters you receive, the more stamps you’ll have the chance to collect.
